Code of Conduct- Players

Players are the most important people in the sport. Playing for the team, and for the team to win, is the most fundamental part of the game. But not winning at any cost. Fair Play and respect for all others in the game is fundamentally important.

All players should:

  • Show due respect towards Match Officials and never dispute their decisions, before, during or after a game.

  • Show due respect towards the Team Officials of the opposition.

  • Encourage, support and help each other.

  • Look after each other.

  • Play for the team and work hard for each other.

  • Involve other team-mates.

  • Whether your team Win, lose or draw show good sportsmanship and shake hands with the opposing team.

  • Always be on time for training and matches.

  • Always have the appropriate football kit.

  • Treat opponents with due respect at all times, irrespective of the result of the game.

  •  Avoid words or actions which may mislead a Match Official.

  • Follow the instructions of their Coach and Team Officials.

All players should not:

  • Blame others for any mistakes made.

  • Shout at, swear, push or bully teammates

  • Make racist, sexist, religious or any other discriminatory comments.

  • Be abusive to or argue with any match official or opposition players and officials (note this includes dissent and sarcasm).

  • Behave in any way that could bring the Club into disrepute.

All players should ensure that:

  • They wear the correct clothing for football training and matches (in all weather conditions).

  • They wear the correct football boots and shin pads (note that you will NOT be allowed to play matches without shin pads).

  • They bring water with them to drink for rehydration.

  • If they need to wear glasses during play, the glasses must contain safety lenses and must be securely fastened to the head by a strap.

Behaviour that could bring Welwyn United Football Club into disrepute in any way will be dealt with severely. It is the duty of any team official, parent or spectator to report any player who persistently breaches any of our codes of conduct. The issue will then be dealt with by the club Committee.
